Beta Program

The Shopp Beta Team is looking for willing, helpful participants (participant being the key word here) to help us work out the kinks. The beta is currently in progress and we already have a substantial pool of volunteers, but there is still an opportunity to participate in the beta! Each week, a new round of invites is sent to small group of hand-picked applicants. Read on for more details, or skip the formalities and fill out a Beta Application.

How will the beta work?

You will be provided access to download a beta version of Shopp that you can install on your blog, your WordPress experimental install or whatever deployment of WordPress you choose. Keep in mind that as beta software, it isn’t going to be the most stable or reliable. I wouldn’t recommend using it on your main website. Based on your availability and capabilities, you’ll provide specific feedback regarding the functionality and usability of Shopp:

  • Provide usability assessments describing areas of the interface that are confusing or unclear of how to use and areas where the interface excels
  • Bugs will be reported to a bug tracker so they can be scheduled and fixed efficiently
  • If you choose to, you can help write some of the first instructions about how to use Shopp from a user’s perspective
  • Updated “builds” will be provided every week with bug fixes and other enhancements until the final release

What’s in it for you?

A free, activation key and choice of any of the extra modules that you want at the end of the beta, IF (and only if) you give helpful, regular feedback. The activation key will give you access to easy upgrades and, your participation in the beta will help you build a connection with Shopp’s author so you’ll get a direct channel of communication for priority response to your questions and problems.

Sounds great, where do I signup?

In order to be considered for the beta, you’ll need to fill out the short Beta Application form.
