Sales Tax

Sales Tax is a direct tax that consumers pay when buying goods and some services. Taxes are collected from the buyer by the seller as an itemized cost at the time of the sale. The seller then pays the taxes collected to the appropriate government agency. A direct sales tax is commonly used in the United States where states, counties and sometimes municipalities tax sales of goods bought or shipped to the jurisdiction.
