Show Prices With or Without Taxes

Show Prices With or Without Taxes

Shopp uses the current base of operations which is set in WordPress AdminShopp Setup to determine how product prices are handled with taxes.

In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to show prices with or without taxes by modifying the API options for Shopp product price.

Ensure Shopp Content Templates are Enabled

Begin by setting up Shopp templates. Login to your WordPress Admin and go to Shopp SetupPresentation. Then follow the directions. If you already have templates setup, then you’ll see a checkmark for templates and you can continue to the next section.

Notice: Templates are setup so that we can customize our Shopp without risk of our changes being lost during a future software update.

Locate the product.php Template File

Now its time to modify the file that handles the content for the Shopp product pages. This is the product.php file.

1) Login to your site with an FTP client (Filezilla is a free option). Then browse to wp-content/themes/yourthemefolder/shopp/

2) Open the product.php file.

3) Browse to about line 22 and locate the following line of code which is for Shopp product price:

<h3 class="original price"><?php shopp('product', 'price'); ?></h3>

If you do want taxes to be shown then replace the original code for Shopp product price with the following:

<h3 class="original price"><?php shopp('product', 'price','taxes=true'); ?></h3>

If you do not want taxes to be shown then replace original code for Shopp product price with the following:

<h3 class="original price"><?php shopp('product', 'price','taxes=false'); ?></h3>

4) We need to make another adjustment. Browse to about line 23 and locate the following line of code which is for Shopp sale price:

<h3 class="original price"><?php shopp('product', 'saleprice'); ?></h3>

If you do want taxes to be shown then replace the original code for Shopp sale price with the following:

<h3 class="sale price"><?php shopp('product', 'saleprice', 'taxes=true'); ?></h3>

If you do not want taxes to be shown then replace original code for Shopp sale price with the following:

<h3 class="sale price"><?php shopp('product', 'saleprice', 'taxes=false'); ?></h3>

5) Then save changes to the file.

We now need to make a similar edit to our category.php file.

Locate our category.php Template File

Now its time to modify the file that handles the content for the Shopp category pages. This is the category.php file.

Clear your current session after making this adjustment. You can do so by browsing to the following link on your site:

Be sure to exchange example.com/shop/ with the correct URL to your own Shopp online store.
